FITNESS INSTRUCTOR
MATERNITY COVER - FIXED TERM ROLE UP TO 1 YEAR.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Fitness Instructor position is a key position in the Company. Carrying out continuous customer and staff relations services, the position provides the postholder with a genuinely rewarding experience and provides a springboard to a leisure management career in one of the most attractive and fast growing leisure management companies.
Primary objectives for the Fitness Instructor will be:
To ensure the safety and enjoyment of everybody using the health and fitness facilities.
To promote excellence of customer service and motivate people to enjoy exercise through good communications and selling skills.
To take responsibility for all aspects of the daily operation of the health and fitness facilities.
To adhere to all operational, sales and health and safety procedures.
To ensure the highest possible standards of health and safety and customer care within the Club.
To develop and promote exciting, innovative leisure programmes in order to increase the usage and profitability of the Club.
To assume shift management responsibility for the Club to maximise the total performance of the Club and maintain the highest standards of customer care.
The Fitness Instructor will focus day to day on the following tasks:
To act as a member of the Leisure Club Management Team and a main key holder on a shift rota system, between 05:00am-23:00 Monday to Sunday. To assist in attendance of emergency call-outs.
To undertake Gym Classes, Inductions, Fitness Assessments, Body Composition Scans and Personal Programmes in accordance with the brand.
To be aware of all Health and Safety issues within the club, and specifically the fitness and health facility, and to constantly implement and assess procedures, drawing attention to unsafe practices.
To guide, care for and assist all fitness users especially in areas of motivation, well-being, nutrition, and fitness testing.
To work as part of a team to achieve income and sales targets for the fitness and health facility.
To take responsibility for ensuring the health and fitness facilities are clean, tidy and well presented at all times.
To undertake maintenance work as required.
To make sure all equipment and facilities are safe and secure when not in use.
To undertake any reasonable request to assist with the daily operations of the club.
To ensure the provision of a clean, high quality facility and exciting and innovative Leisure Club programmes.
To ensure that the objectives of the contract are achieved and the appropriate financial systems and procedures are implemented.
To assist in the marketing and publicity of all activities and events and develop distribution networks for promotional materials and merchandising of products.
To ensure sufficient staff are available for the safe, high quality functioning of the Club.
To coach and teach as required and generally assist with the running of the group exercise programme and events.
To undertake any regulatory requirements.
To be responsible and accountable for cash handling as required.
To undertake any other duties as may be required by the Contract Manager to ensure that the business objectives of the contract are achieved.
THE CANDIDATE
Qualifications
As the successful candidate you must be flexible, reliable, and enjoy working as part of a team. You will ideally possess or be working towards achieving Level 2 Fitness Instructor or equivalent qualification. Be willing to work variable hours, including evenings and weekends.
The successful candidate will preferably have knowledge and skills in the Leisure or a related industry in a small/medium sized enterprise.

DBS
The position of Fitness Instructor is classed as a regulated post and therefore requires a DBS Disclosure. Where the individual does not already hold a DBS Disclosure, it will be necessary for the post holder to be submitted for a DBS check.
