Job Description

The post-holder will provide excellent and friendly customer service in a busy theatre setting, ensuring that our customers have an enjoyable and positive experience. They will be able to work efficiently and accurately under pressure, in a fast paced environment whilst providing a warm and welcoming service. An average shift is around 3-4 hours long.

 

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities may vary for each performance and all guidance will be given by the Duty Manager. You will be provided with all relevant information relating to the performance/screening.

  • Primarily you will be required to serve customers on the bar, including organising interval drinks, general cleaning and restocking of the bar and rotating stock to reduce waste.

  • Selling programmes, confectionery and merchandise when necessary.

  • Restaurant duties will include taking orders, table service, food preparation and cleaning all work stations.

  • Follow an opening and closing checklist on the bar to ensure all preparations for service are adhered to, including cleaning down and stocking up, ready for the next performance.

  • Operating the till and taking card payments.

  • Stewarding a performance will include greeting customers, checking customer tickets, directing to their seats and being inside the auditorium during show times to ensure all safety measures are upheld.

  • To provide particular assistance, if required, to customers with specific access requirements.

  • To assist in maintaining the general appearance and tidiness of all the public areas including the auditorium/cinema, before, during and after performances.

  • General assistance during other events. This could include, but is not limited to, serving light refreshments and assisting marketing where needed.

  • To be vigilant at all times with regard to the safety and security of customers, colleagues and yourself. To alert the Duty Manager of any problems quickly and clearly. Maintaining the general safety and comfort of customers.

  • Assisting with emergency evacuations and other emergency situations to ensure the safe evacuation of our customers in an emergency.

  • To ensure that all duties are carried out in compliance with the Company’s Health & Safety Policy and adhering to the venue’s premises licence and business procedures at all times.

  • To perform any other ad hoc duties as may be reasonably expected within the role.

Terms & Conditions of Service:

  • Zero hours contract, mainly evenings and weekends

  • All necessary training relating to the role, as well as practical training on the use of specific equipment will be provided

  • Hourly rate is National Minimum Wage (age dependent)

  • Probationary Period: The post is subject to a six month probationary period.
