JOB DESCRIPTION 

Primary objectives for the Group Exercise Instructor will be: 

 ● To ensure the safety and enjoyment of everybody participating in the class. 

 ● To promote excellence of customer service and motivate people to enjoy exercise through good communication and selling skills. 

 ● To run classes of a high standard, delivering the desired outcomes for all members taking part in the class and maximising usage of class time.

 The Group Exercise Instructor will focus day to day on the following tasks: 

 ● To guide, care for and assist all fitness users especially in areas of motivation, well-being, nutrition, and fitness testing. 

 ● To make sure all equipment and facilities are safe and secure when not in use. 

 ● To ensure the class starts and finishes at the stated times set. 

 ● To ensure class attendance figures are recorded accurately.

 ● To teach the class in a professional and positive manner. 

PERSON SPECIFICATION 

 Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills 

 ● The successful post holder will have knowledge and skills in the class subject being taught. 

 ● Exercise to Music Level 2 or equivalent fitness qualification

Among the personal characteristics sought the post holder: 

 ● Will be able to gain acceptance and respect from clients and the teams involved. 

 ● Will be able to build strong professional relationships with customers, clients and employees. 

● Will maintain an appropriate level of personal fitness in order to keep up with the demands of teaching, as well as acting as a role model for attendees.  

 ● Will be able to meet the demands of the role by working additional hours when required. 

 ● Will be able to demonstrate clear identification with all customer needs. 

 ● Will be motivated and enthusiastic when teaching the session. 

DBS The position of Group Exercise Instructor is classed as a regulated post and therefore requires a DBS Disclosure. Where the individual does not hold already hold a DBS Disclosure, it will be necessary for the post holder to be submitted for a DBS check.
