Payroll Officer
Salary – circa £25,000 +

(Hybrid Working after training)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team. This position is not a traditional payroll processing role, as the team provides a payroll auditing/ system /advisory service to all levels of management, administrators and employees within the company. The role is currently based in Duxbury Park, Chorley.

We are seeking a dynamic forward thinking individual with an investigative mind and attention to detail to join the team.

The role will include all aspects of computerised payroll processing including but not limited to:

  • Liaising and resolving data input errors with contract managers / administrators.

  • Checking data input to ensure accuracy and limitations fall within the company policies

  • Ensuring the Group payrolls are accurate and paid in a timely manner as per each individual company requirement.

  • Administration of Auto enrolment and  other company pensions.

  • Providing reports for directors

  • Providing help desk service to employees to register/sign in to the Self Service Portal

  • Ensure all payroll-related administration is actioned in a timely manner e.g. Earnings enquiries, DWP documentation and mortgage applications.

  • Administration of employee deductions and payments /documentation to the relevant bodies, i.e. Child Support Agency, Community Tax, etc.

  • Adhere to the company audit procedure.

  • Ensuring all filing generated is filed in the appropriate location.

  • Assisting with continuous development of the Payroll systems and processes.

  • Completing operational training as required.

  • Complying with all statutory requirements, company policies and standard procedures.

  • Supporting the Payroll team and working collaboratively with the HR and Finance teams.

  • Ensuring data protection and confidentiality is maintained at all times.

  • To undertake other duties as may reasonably be required.

As the main part of the role is an advisory/ auditing service 4+ years payroll experience is desirable. Candidates should possess excellent communication and numeracy skills along with the ability to work within tight deadlines and to set procedures. Diplomacy, confidentiality and a customer-facing approach are  essential.

The company is looking to implement a new payroll/ HR system within the new tax year so previous experience of system implementation would be advantageous along with a sound knowledge of PXD or other computerised payroll systems would be an advantage. , as would a good working knowledge of Auto enrolment and /or LGPS pension scheme. Suitable candidates should be adept with working with various software packages including google Chrome.
