Sales and Marketing Manager

North Devon Leisure Contract

Salary £24,000 - £26,000 + OTE on target earnings to £30k


We are seeking to recruit motivated, enthusiastic, flexible and customer focussed people to join our team at Tarka Leisure Centre in Barnstaple, North Devon.


Tarka Leisure Centre is the most modern leisure facility in the North Devon locality and provides a 25m swimming pool, 20 metre learner pool, sports hall, state of the art gym, spin studio 2 x group exercise studios, indoor ski facility, indoor and outdoor tennis courts as well as an all weather pitch.

You will be responsible for relentlessly driving sales and marketing across the contract and delivering promotional activity to attract new customers and members to the Centre.   You will be creative, highly motivated and be able to collate accurate and detailed membership information on sales achieved, income generation, future targets and levels of attrition within set working deadlines. There is also the opportunity to increase our community profile through advertising and awareness campaigns, outreach opportunities and events management.


The Opportunity

  • To increase participation through increased sales, retention and public awareness

  • Development of our key brands - Gym, Swimming, Tennis, Camp Adventure, Retail and the opportunity to reinvigorate our activity programming to increase participation

  • To create and deliver digital campaigns

  • Budgetary control and the opportunity to earn OTE

  • Project and event management

  • Coordination of marketing, special events and PR to raise the profile of the North Devon Leisure  Facilities

The Person

  • Excellent communication skills  - both verbal and written

  • Self motivated and driven to exceed targets

  • Previous experience in a similar role, with awareness of the leisure industry

  • Attention to detail

  • The ability to build effective working relationships

  • The ability to create posters, leaflets and press releases

  • Confident in outreach and all customer interface opportunities

  • Good negotiating skills

  • Be passionate about the products they sell
