The Hawth Theatre in Crawley is looking for an experienced Technical Manager to be responsible for a range of technical and production services that support the core of the business.

Duties of the role

  • Provide a level of production expertise to enhance stage presentations in relation to operations, get ins/outs and rota management

  • Responsibility for delivery of all Health and Safety and Environmental objectives related to technical operations

  • Working cooperatively with other members of the management team, contractors, venue hirers and other colleagues and freelancers is of paramount importance to success in the role.

  • Operational management responsibility for the Technical Stage Team plus apprentices, casual and freelance staff as employed

  • Ensure that best practices are followed for maximum efficiency and that the most suitable working environment is attained for employees and visitors.

  • Highly organised, work well under pressure and have the necessary management skills to bring out the best in their team - each time, every time

  • have an independent, positive approach to problem-solving, excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, be able to build strong relationships with customers, clients and employees and lead and inspire their team at all times

  • experience of the management of permanent and casual technical staff, promoting an ethos of excellence within a team and the successful development of individuals to reach their own potential

  • Personal experience in the role(s) of; Theatre Electrician, Sound or Lighting Designer, Stage Manager, Production Carpenter and/or other duties relevant to modern producing & receiving theatre or other live event venue is essential

  • Relevant education and / or industry qualifications (e.g ABTT Bronze or Silver) is highly desirable but are not essential to the successful execution of the role

Ideally, the successful candidate will be available to commence in February 2024.
