Meet ​Paul, our Operations Manager at Plantasia. Last October marked a remarkable milestone: 25 years since Paul first joined Plantasia Tropical Zoo as a 17-year-old trainee. From those early days on a casual contract with Swansea Council, Paul has grown with the zoo, moving from front-of-house to Duty Manager and now into his current role as Operations Manager.

Paul’s journey is a testament to hard work, adaptability, and commitment. Over the years, he’s become a go-to figure for colleagues, sharing his knowledge with generations of staff and helping to steer Plantasia through huge changes. Today, Paul oversees everything from staffing, stock management and financial reporting to health and safety, ensuring the zoo runs smoothly day-to-day. He’s also undertaking a Welsh Government-funded apprenticeship in Management to support him as he takes on this expanded role.

At Plantasia, Paul is most proud of helping the zoo grow into the vibrant, award-winning attraction it is today.
